Allison's Jane Addams Bioriddle

I was born on September 6, 1860 in Cedarville, Illinois, with the sky so beautiful all full of the color turquoise.

I strongly believed in the need of research into the poverty and crime, I worked very hard to earn money but all I ever got was a dime.

My mother, Sara, died when I was just two years old, it was sad seeing her in her coffin all skinny and cold.

I was then raised by my stepmother who had two children of her own, by that time my clothes were always to be sewn.

I graduated from the Rockford Female Seminary in 1881 and won a bachelors degree, the next year after it became the Rockford College I got a very good salary.

During the summer of 1881 my father became ill and died, he was a very nice man and had never lied.

After he died I felt much torment, that time was the saddest moment.

I was the first American woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1931, I shared it with an educator Nicholas Murray Butler who also deserved one.

I visited and helped people at the Hull-House up to my death in 1935, I loved the children so much they made me feel so alive.

If your not sure who I am just try and guess, if you need a hint just look at my dress.

Who am I?

Yes, I am Jane Addams and my famous quote is:

"America's future will be determined by the home and the school.  The child becomes largely what he is taught, hence we must watch what we teach, and how we live."

School Shots

Allison and Bryson went to get their immunization shots to start middle school and Kindergarten today. They both had to get four shots, I told them if they were good I would take them to get a surprise. They did great and there were not tears so I took them to Toy "R" Us to pick out a toy. Bryson got a Angry Pig (He loves Angry Birds!) and Allison got a doll from the movie Brave. They are both very happy and ready for school.

First Pair of Contact Lenses

Allison has always had a problem with her glasses. She has very sensitive skin so her glasses would cause painful looking sores around her ears and on her nose. She told me that she really wanted contact lenses because her glasses were painful to wear. I knew Allison was responsible enough to take care of contacts, so on Saturday we went to the optometrist and got Allison her first pair of contact lenses.  She loves them! She hasn't had any problems taking them out or putting them in her eyes. She looks a little different without her glasses. I'm use to seeing her glasses on her face all the time, but she looks beautiful! Love you Allison!!

Solar Eclipse

The Eisenbrandt's came over and watched the solar eclipse with us. The eclipse was really fun to see. The last solar eclipse was 18 years ago, I'm glad I was able to see it this time around.

Hair Solution

Allison had a waxy, greasy like film on her hair that wouldn't wash out. She had this film in her hair for about a year and I was going crazy trying to figure out how to get her hair feeling normal. Yesterday I looked up her hair condition on Google and found that there were several people who had the same problem. They said that they had a gross oily/waxy film on their hair that they couldn't wash out. Someone on the site said to use Suave clarifying shampoo and Listerine to get the film out. One people said that it was a miracle solution. I tried it on Allison today and it worked. My daughter has soft, normal hair again! Thanks goodness for the internet. I'm so happy!

First of all, I want to let all of you reading this know that my mom is the greatest mom in the whole entire world. Not only is she the greatest mom, but also my best friend, and hero. Without her, where would I be? I would be lost, scared, and lonely. My mom guides me in the right direction, protects me, comforts me, and she puts a smile on my face in every situation. I love watching funny shows with my mom, eating her delicious cookies, taking pictures together and hanging out with her. But one of my favorite things to do with my mom is LAUGH! Laugh.. Laugh.. Laugh is all we ever do. Can't go throughout the day without laughing. And her laugh is especially "special". Without my mom, my friends wouldn't even want to hangout with me anymore because she's the one they love. She's MINE! So back off friends.. (Jacqueline!!). She's mine now. I hope that when I get older, I will always see my mom. I don't like the thought of getting older because when I go to college and get married I won't be living with her anymore. I don't even want a different last name; I always want to be a Skabelund, like my mom. I wish my mom named me Alexis "Kathlene" Skabelund so that she will always be apart of me, and so that I will feel that I'm always with her. Something I really want to have "girls nights" with my mom. I want to spend more time with her; just me and mom. It would be so much fun. This is not even a quarter of how much I love my mom, I could go on and on all day. But I hope this sums it up. My mom is super fun to be with and I love her so freaking much!! I love you mom! Don't ever forget that I love you!!! "I'm here with my mom and we already met and I want to sing her a song. I'm her daughter, and I'll never leave her side. So I'm here now. I'm with you, Mommy. And guess what, guess what. I love you! I love you! I loovvee you!!!!" Love you mom!!! Happy Mother's Day! <3

Mothers Day

Lexie and Madison picked these really pretty flowers for me.
My family gave me this pretty bouquet of flowers.
Travis makes fun of me because I love Easy Cheese. He thinks it's nasty! For Mothers Day he got me a can of Easy Cheese and Wheat Thins.
I also got a lot of Mothers Day cards and notes including this huge one on my driveway. I feel so loved!
I'm so blessed to have such an amazing family!
