Our Long Trip to Utah

We started our trip to Utah at 11:00 AM on the 20TH and I was first to drive my six hour share. The trip started off great we listened to A Girl Who Owned A City and the kids were very well behaved. After several hours of driving. We stopped and filled up at a gas Station. Travis checked the oil and took his place in the drivers seat. I was very impressed because Travis was staying at a steady 75 MPH and we were making good time. Soon our car was having troubles, Travis pulled over to the side of the road, he knew exactly what was wrong. We had lost our transmission again! We were all having flashbacks of what happened to us a few years back when we lost our transmission in Denio Junction. We called a tow truck and spent the night in Battle Mountain.

In the morning we called around trying to figure out what we were going to do. Dallas told us that he would pick us up and tow our van back to Utah. We packed everything up and left the hotel room at 11:00 AM and got something to eat at a nearby McDonalds. After eating we got back in our car and coasted around Battle Mountain in first gear. We spent the majority of our day in Battle Mountain in a dirt parking lot waiting for Dallas to rescue us. The kids were going a little crazy running around our car as we sat in the parking lot. Travis than had an idea to draw names for Christmas presents to each other. Everyone drew a name and then we walked to the Family Dollar to shop for the names we drew. Not too long after shopping Dallas showed up and we got the van up on the trailer and finished the rest of our trip to utah without any problems.
