Lexie says I dye my hair too much and she's right. I love having darker hair, but my hair doesn't hold color well so I have to dye it over and over. Carrie and Lindsey you are beauticians. Do you know why my hair wont hold color? Do you know of something I can do to keep my color longer? I would really love your advice!

Hmm...tips, I am trying to think. 1. When you wash your hair in the shower try to wash it in cool water instead of hot, hot opens the cuticle thus causing it to fade a little quicker. 2. After coloring wait 2-3 days to shampoo/condition your hair. You can get it wet with cool water but avoid washing. Again the color tends to fade quicker. 3. Get a color protecting Shampoo (usually products sold at a salon or beauty supply tend to work better and are definitely worth the money). I like Joico Color Endure or Biolage Color Protecting duos. 4. Maybe try adding a clear coat after the color. That should seal it in there pretty good.
Some people's hair just natrually don't hold color very well. Maybe try a demi or semi permanent color next time? It is not quite as damaging to the hair but lasts for quite a while and can be applied often.

I love your dark hair. And one of the ladies I work with used to do hair. She swears by using vinegar. Wash your hair with it when it's the color you want it to stay.
I haven't tried it but I plan on doing it the next time I dye my hair red.
I love dark hair also. Blonde never looks as shiny as dark. I would like to add some highlights to my hair this summer, but I hate to damage my hair!
